New committee 2009/10

As one of my final acts as retiring secretary it falls to me to announce the newly elected committee but first I'd like to thank the retiring members.

Retiring members.

Stuart Coupland - As one of the founding members Stu has been involved with the group from the outset and indeed has served on committee for all of that period too. Stu will however be continuing his work as part of the training team - so we haven't seen the last of him.

Ian Clark - Like Stu, Ian has been involved from the very beginning, in fact it was Ian who kicked the whole 4x4 Response thing off in this area, so you can thank or blame him as you see fit. Due to personal reasons Ian has been unable to truly fulfill his role as chairman this last year and has decided to step aside so as to allow someone with more time to commit to the group to take on the role. However this is far from the last we'll be seeing of Ian - see below.

The New Committee

Chairman - Dave White -
During Ian's enforced absences this last year Dave as been filling in as and when necessary, so it was perhaps only natural that he should stand for the post this year. He was elected unanimously and unopposed.

Secretary - Ian Reynolds - Ian was also elected unopposed and unanimously (as indeed were all posts) and will be supported by Mark Ridpath who continues in the role of Membership Secretary.

Treasurer - Neil Howson - Though unavoidably absent from the bulk of the meeting (he slipped in at the end) Neil had once again drawn up a summary of the accounts for the AGM and was willing to continue in the role.

Committee Members - Rob Woodworth, John 'JP' Potts, Chris Ford, Steve Tiffany and Mark Leonard
These were elected on block, Rob will continue to head up the Shows team, JP is taking on a new role of Member Liason Officer (more below), supported by Steven Tiffany in his local area, Chris Ford will continue as Newsletter Editor and I'm sure the committee will find some jobs for Mark and indeed more for each of themselves as the months progress.

Member Liason Officer and Local Reps.

It has been decided to introduce local reps to assist in the issueing of kit , inductions and to generally try to keep the more outlying members in touch with the goings on of the group. Not everyone can or indeeds wants to go online to check the forum and so a network of regional reps has been put in place.

John Potts is heading this up in an effort to keep everyone singing from the same hymn sheet and to try to ensure that thins happen. More reps are still wanted and they will need to go through a short bit of training themselves (just an hour or 2). But to date the volunteers are

Southern Lincolnshire - Eddie Bennetto
Northern Lincolnshire - Ian Clark
A1 Corridor - Simon Bentley
Northern West Yorkshire and Western North Yorkshire - Robert and Steven Tiffany
Southern West Yorkshire - Rob Woodworth
Holderness - Mark Leonard

As you can see there are still some gaps and some people are covering pretty large areas so more volunteers very welcome.

Group President

As part of the changes to the group rules proposed and accepted at the AGM a new role of group president has been established.

The President is to be a figure head and contact point for members and non members alike. Unencumbered by a specific role the President can devote his time where he sees fit in the furtherment of the group and is to be elected on a 5 year basis but it is very much an honorary post to be awarded to someone in recognition of their services to the group. On proposing this additional role the committee had only one person in mind our Founder and retiring Chairman Ian Clark who has agreed to take on the role
