CitizenAID smartphone app

It might be a little bit extreme but it seems a useful emergency app the below information is taken out of this months new letter at my work.

Members of the public are being encouraged to learn first aid skills in case they are caught up in a terrorist attack. CitizenAID has been developed by military and civilian medics to teach people about how to provide potentially life- saving treatment before the arrival of emergency services in the event of an incident.

The information is available through an app and pocketbook and is designed to complement the ‘Run, Hide, Tell’ guidance given by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office in the wake of the Paris attacks. The current threat level for international terrorism in the UK is currently at ‘severe’, meaning an attack is highly likely.

The citizenAID system is intended to give members of the pubic straightforward information on how to plan, prepare and react to an incident.
Sue Killen, CEO of St John Ambulance, said: ‘First aid can be the difference between life and death. Knowing basic first aid in a terror attack or in an everyday emergency at home or in the community, will give you more confidence to deal with a crisis. First aid is easy to learn and our first aid techniques cover a wide range of injuries that could occur in a terrorist incident including severe bleeding, crush injuries and shock. We encourage anyone who would like to learn first aid to go to our website to view our first aid videos, download our app or attend a first aid course.’
The free app is available via the Google Play or the Apple App Store, and linked from their site below. The pocket book can be bought for £1.99 from medtree and spservices. More information can be found at http://citizenaid.org/
